Joseph E von Meier

Mr. von Meier is a partner in the Firm's Real Estate practice group, focusing on commercial real estate matters. He has extensive experience in representing multiple Chicago-based and national residential developers in all aspects of single-family, condominium, apartment and student housing transactions. He represents tenants and landlords in industrial, office and retail lease negotiations and large real estate holders in acquisition and disposition of real estate inventory. Mr. von Meier also represents industrial and retail property developers in land use/zoning issues. In addition to commercial real estate, he has experience representing municipalities on all issues pertaining to municipal law with an emphasis on zoning issues in such areas as reviewing petitions for special use permits, zoning code variances and text amendments to zoning and building codes.

Mr. von Meier received his B.B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1995. Mr. von Meier was awarded his J. D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2002. While at the University of Wisconsin he served as Vice President of the Evans Moot Court Executive Board. Prior to joining us as an attorney, he was a legal intern at our firm during the summer of 2001. Mr. von Meier has been recognized in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Editions of Illinois Super Lawyers magazine as a "Rising Star" in Real Estate law. He is a member of the American, Wisconsin and The Chicago Bar Associations and is licensed to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin.
