Patrick Bruks concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and securities law with a particular emphasis on representing middle market companies and individual business owners. He has experience in counseling clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, debt and lease financings, and a wide variety of other transactional matters. Many of Mr. Bruks' clients utilize him as their outside general counsel. In addition, Mr. Bruks has represented governmental bodies on a number of high profile matters.

- Represented the City of Chicago and the Chicago Park District in connection with the $600 million Renovation of Soldier Field and Redevelopment of Burnham Park.
- Represented the Chicago Park District in connection with the construction and operation of the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island (formerly Meigs Field).
- Represented the Chicago Park District in connection with the Lollapalooza Music Festival in Grant Park.
- Represented LaSalle Bank in connection with financing the acquisition of the Chicago Theatre.
- Represented the maker of AerobedsĀ® in connection with the sale of its business to a private equity firm.
- Represented Pinnacle Banc Group in connection with its $250 million merger with and into Old Kent Financial Corporation.
During the course of his practice, Mr. Bruks has created and developed a process for analyzing any contract using "Ten and Only Ten Basic Questions". This process has been successfully applied to all types of contracts ranging from simple handshake deals to hundred page agreements drafted by a team of lawyers. Mr. Bruks has given a number of seminars on this subject and has instructed both attorneys and business people how to improve their effectiveness and efficiency in analyzing and negotiating any contract.
Mr. Bruks holds his B.A., with honors, from the University of Notre Dame and was awarded his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1994.
Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Bruks co-founded and was general counsel of an acquisition firm which concentrated on small to mid-sized companies. Mr. Bruks also serves as an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law where he teaches a course on Mergers and Acquisitions.
