The trial of Officer Jason Van Dyke for the 2014 murder of Laquan McDonald marks the first time in more than 30 years that a Chicago police officer is on trial for murder involving actions that occurred in the line of duty.

Given his 10 years as a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney, including 5 years at the County’s Criminal Courthouse located at 26th and California, where the majority of murders, rapes, armed robberies and shootings are heard, Joe was asked to provide ongoing commentary and analysis on the trial.

Joe continues to appear live on WGN, including the morning broadcast on Monday, September 17.
