Profile
Jessica Cox is a partner in Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella's Religious, Tax-Exempt Organizations, Corporate, and Internal Investigations groups. Jessica focuses her practice on risk management, claims resolution, and corporate issues affecting religious, non-profit, and social service organizations. Her experience includes representing religious organizations in mediation and other alternative dispute-resolution processes as well as assisting both for-profit and charitable clients in conducting internal investigations and developing risk management policies and practices.
Experience
- Manages risks and claims for religious and non-profit clients, particularly in the area of serious personal misconduct
- Provides crisis management assistance for religious and non-profit entities, including coordination with in-house legal counsel and outside consultants, in situations involving legal, ethical, and public relations elements
- Represents clients in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings, particularly those involving highly sensitive and confidential matters
- Supervises mediation and litigation discovery, including large-scale electronic discovery
- Advises religious entities on the selection of corporate organizational structure and execution of corporate reorganization
- Analyzes impact of proposed legislation on non-profit and religious organizations and prepares proposed legislative amendments to protect client interests
