Madeleine Milan is a partner at Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella’s Litigation, Consumer Financial Services Litigation, Real Estate and Religious practice groups. She has represented a variety of businesses and business owners in both Illinois state and federal courts, including representing financial institutions in consumer litigation and discovery disputes, real estate litigation, commercial and residential landlord-tenant litigation, creditor actions, tax indemnification actions, shareholder disputes, among others.
Ms. Milan was awarded her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2007. While at Loyola she was a member on the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal and the Consumer Law Review. She was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Ronald A. Guzman, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, and a legal writing tutor. Ms. Milan was a Burke, Warren summer associate in 2006.
Prior to studying law, Ms. Milan was a manager in the global marketing and communications group at Accenture. She received her B.A. in English Literature, cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago.
Ms. Milan is a member of the Illinois State and The Chicago Bar Associations and is licensed to practice in Illinois.
Ms. Milan has wide-ranging experience litigating mortgage foreclosure actions and suits brought under various state and federal laws, including the Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and various state consumer protection statutes. Ms. Milan also has experience litigating commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes, creditor claims, property title disputes, tax indemnification claims, shareholder disputes, trade secret misappropriation disputes, and breach of contract actions. Her experience spans state, federal, and United States bankruptcy courts.
