Richard W. Burke’s practice embraces a broad range of business concerns. He offers counsel on the formation and general legal issues of business organizations; the purchase and sale of companies; public, private, and governmental financing; business succession plans; employee benefits and compensation; real estate acquisition, development and divestiture; representation of public entities; the representation of and regulatory concerns of financial institutions; and formal and informal business reorganizations. He also offers extensive experience in both civil and white-collar criminal cases at the state and federal levels.


  • Formation, purchase and sale of numerous bank holding companies;
  • Representation of an employee benefit plan established pursuant to collective bargaining agreement involving a large public entity;
  • Sale of manufacturer and seller of sports protection gear with domestic and foreign subsidiaries;
  • Sale of numerous companies in the waste disposal industry;
  • Representation of a public entity in the major reconstructions of a stadium, negotiation of lease with major league football team as Tenant; procural of legislative change authorizing the transaction and bond issuance, acted as counsel on bond issuance; and successful defense of transaction, including argument in Illinois Supreme Court;
  • Sale of a major fastener manufacturer by a private charity;
  • Principal trustee of a multi-million dollar private charity with investment and grant making responsibilities.
