DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C., an independent, full-service Chicago law firm with 70+ attorneys representing clients locally, nationally, and worldwide, is seeking a creative, organized, and energetic Director of Marketing. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with best practices in legal marketing and be able to scale those practices to our mid-sized firm. The Director of Marketing will partner with firm management, the Marketing and Business Development Committee, practice groups, and individual attorneys to develop and lead the firm’s marketing and business development strategy. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Marketing is responsible for firm-wide marketing and business development strategies. General duties of the Director of Marketing include, but are not limited to, to the following:
- Develop and execute the firm’s strategic initiatives in alignment with overall firm strategy and goals, including communications plan and events calendar
- Manage the annual planning and budgeting process for marketing and business development efforts
- Work closely with attorneys and staff to proactively identify and respond to appropriate new business opportunities, including opportunities for internal cross-marketing and joint business development initiatives
- Advise attorneys on marketing and business development best practices
- Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs), as well as proactive pitches and proposal opportunities, and create a library of document templates
- Oversee and manage the firm’s social media accounts and advise on best practices relating to marketing and business development technology
- Supervise and mentor a junior marketing professional
- Assess firm marketing and business development practices and continuously work to enhance and improve current processes
- Maintain a strong knowledge of key clients and the market, including business trends and the competitive landscape
- Draft external and internal announcements and media pitches
- Identify speaking engagements and thought leadership opportunities for firm attorneys
- Spearhead knowledge extraction activities to leverage attorney expertise
- Plan and coordinate events, seminars, webinars, continuing legal education workshops, and social receptions that support practice group and firm goals
- Obtain CLE certification for firm presentations, as needed
- Update and maintain firm website in conjunction with IT department
- Develop and maintain contact lists for external client communications
- Prepare firm, practice group, and attorney submissions for online directories and publications
- Track firm marketing and business development initiatives

The ideal candidate will have ten or more years of experience with increasing responsibility in a marketing or business development role and have a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.

Position Summary
Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. is seeking a full-time Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join our dynamic team. The Commercial Real Estate Paralegal will support attorneys working on complex commercial real estate transactions and closings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions from contracts and loan commitments through closing and post-closing.
- Assist with commercial real estate due diligence, including title and survey reviews, title objection letters, lease reviews, and UCC, judgment, litigation and lien searches.
- Prepare organizational documents and assist in entity formation.
- Prepare closing checklists, critical dates timelines, closing statements, title and other affidavits, entity authorizations, customary closing documentation, etc.
- Responsible for closing documents and assist with other aspects of the transactions as needed, both locally and nationally.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge
Must have strong PC skills with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), as well as the ability to learn and use proprietary computer systems and databases.
- Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal professionally with clients, vendors, and coworkers on the phone and in person.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in Commercial Real Estate as a paralegal in a medium to large sized law firm or real estate company.
- High school or equivalent is required; two-year Associates degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University a plus.
- Proficient in use of office machinery, photocopy and scanning equipment.
- Accurately types 70+ WPM.
- Excellent knowledge of English language.
- Strong day-to-day organizational skills, particularly with respect to file maintenance and record keeping.
