Profile

Erica Burgos is a native Chicagoan, having earned her B.A. in Communication, cum laude, from DePaul University in 2010 and her J.D., cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2018.

Erica A. Burgos is an associate in Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella’s Real Estate and Corporate groups. During law school, Erica served as an editor of the Seventh Circuit Review, participated in the Self-Help Web Center program in collaboration with the Circuit Court of Cook County to provide pro se litigants with free legal resources, and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. She was a summer associate at the Firm in 2017. Erica has experience representing both local and national clients in transactions throughout the various, complex aspects of the real estate business, including the acquisition, disposition, leasing, development and construction of commercial and industrial properties.

Prior to law school, Erica held an Illinois Leasing License and worked for two of the largest property management companies in Chicago, where she helped manage and lease properties in the Loop and Streeterville neighborhoods.

Experience

  • Represented a private national developer in connection with the development of medical offices, including negotiating development, construction and contractor agreements
  • Regularly draft and review purchase and sale agreements, amendments, consents and resolutions for a variety of clients involving transactions upwards of $1 million
  • Extensive experience performing title and survey reviews, negotiating title policies and resolving chain of title disputes
  • Represented a private developer in connection with obtaining complex municipal zoning approvals and variance requests necessary to deconvert condominiums into a mixed-used residential and commercial complex
  • Represent tenants and institutional landlords in connection with the leasing of several thousand square feet of office and industrial spaces
