Secured victory related to anticompetitive practices on behalf of electrical contracting company

Secured a significant recovery for one of Chicago’s largest electrical contractors in a case filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, prevailing against three former employees, a competitor and its president who were accused of breaching fiduciary duties and misappropriating confidential bidding data (protected trade secrets) to unlawfully secure millions of dollars in contracts. The case not only resulted in a seven-figure monetary recovery for the client, but also required the defendants—at their own expense—to retain Deloitte Consulting to remediate and purge the claimed trade secret data from their business systems, ensuring it cannot be used by the defendants in future competition.

The client was represented by Stephen Voris, Eric VanderPloeg, and Morgan Hess. The Firm continues to represent the client in related matters, including a second potential action against other parties arising from similar fiduciary duty and trade secret claims.
