Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. is proud to participate in the Chicago Bar Foundation’s (CBF) 2023 Investing in Justice Campaign. The Campaign is the CBF’s annual initiative that rallies Chicago’s entire legal community around CBF’s common cause of ensuring that everyone has access to necessary legal help, not just people who can afford it. Thousands of individual lawyers and legal professionals at more than 150 Chicago-area law firms, corporate legal departments, companies, and other law-related organizations participate in the Campaign each year.

Burke Warren’s 2023 week long efforts in support of the Investing in Justice Campaign kick off with an educational program for its attorneys on May 2nd, featuring Michael Stone, the Legal Director for the Center for Disability and Elder Law.

The CBF, charitable arm of the Chicago Bar Association, aims to make the legal system more fair and efficient for everyone through pro bono and legal aid organizations that are funded, in large part, by the Investing In Justice Campaign. By way of example, the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services, a funding recipient of the campaign, provides legal support in various areas for vulnerable citizens, regardless of income.

The Investing in Justice Campaign is the largest campaign of its kind anywhere in the country. Since its inception in 2007, the Campaign has raised more than $20 million, which has leveraged millions more in additional funding through the CBF’s Campaign grant process, to support the work of more than 30 pro bono and legal aid organizations that provide critical legal assistance to tens of thousands of people in need. Those receiving services made possible by the Campaign include the elderly, disabled individuals, veterans, children, domestic violence victims, people at risk of losing their homes, immigrants fleeing persecution and abuse, and many other low-income and disadvantaged people in the Chicago area in need of legal assistance.

Burke Warren partner and Pro Bono Committee Chair Alex Marks stated, “Burke Warren is very proud of its ongoing support of the CBF’s Investing in Justice Campaign. The CBF has set the bar with this initiative, which is unrivaled in any major city in the country. The CBF’s efforts aligns with our Firm’s strong tradition of providing pro bono services to those most in need to ensure equal access to legal assistance. It is an ethical and moral responsibility we take very seriously. Our commitment to pro bono work is a source of great pride, and the flexibility to perform such work is one of the great aspects of working at Burke Warren."
