Burke Warren is pleased to announce that Christine Eduardo and Mathew Musipa, participants in its Fall 2022 3L Minority Internship Program, have accepted offers to join the firm as first year associates in Fall 2023. Under the leadership of its Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee, with firm partners Nicholas Gowen and Danielle Gould serving as co-directors of the program, Burke Warren seized the opportunity to establish a quality internship program in 2021 to enhance the legal careers of the participants and, at the same time, to address racial inequity in the legal community at large and ensure that the firm is engaging and developing relationships with law students of color.

Nicholas Gowen stated, “We are very excited to have launched the Burke Warren 3L Minority Internship Program in 2021. We are delighted that Christine Eduardo and Mathew Musipa, participants in our 2022 3L program, have agreed to join the Burke Warren family as first year associates in Fall 2023. Doing so speaks to their strong educational background, demonstrated experience and unique perspectives.”

Christine Eduardo is a law student at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law with a projected graduation date of December 2022. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California at Irvine. She previously served as a legal intern at the U.S. Department of Labor in Chicago. She served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Diane Shelley of the Circuit Court of Cook County Law Division.

Mathew Musipa is a law student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Law with a projected graduation date of May 2023. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from the University of Illinois and graduated summa cum laude. He earned an Associated of Applied Science degree from Illinois Central College. He previously served as a summer law clerk for the Allstate Corporation and as a summer intern for the Global Legal Department of McDonald’s Corporation.

“The Burke Warren 3L Minority Internship Program further enables us to better engage with talented underrepresented law students and build long-lasting connections with the interns participating in our program. And it reinforces a cornerstone of Burke Warren’s DEI commitment: we firmly believe that workplace diversity allows us to be stronger advocates for our clients, enhances the quality of the legal services we provide, and enriches the workplace atmosphere itself. We look forward to Christine Eduardo and Mathew Musipa joining the firm in Fall 2023. We are also pleased that Adrian Atwater and Jolisa Warmack, participants in our inaugural 2021 program, joined the Burke Warren family as first year associates in Fall 2022,” Danielle Gould noted.
