Chris Verdugo is an Associate at Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. and is a member of the Firm’s Litigation, Automotive Franchise, and Religious Organizations practice groups. Chris represents clients across all phases of complex civil litigation, with experience in fact investigation, written discovery, motion practice, and briefing at both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to joining the Firm, Chris was an Associate at Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP, where he worked on class action consumer finance litigation and reinsurance arbitration matters.

Chris is a member of the Firm’s Pro Bono Committee and maintains an active pro bono practice focused on diverse issues. His representations include securing a grant of asylum for a client fleeing persecution, obtaining an arbitration award for a residential tenant seeking return of an unlawfully withheld security deposit, and drafting an amicus brief submitted to the United States Supreme Court addressing the regulation of off‑campus student speech. Chris has also briefed issues before the Seventh Circuit concerning prisoners’ rights and developed a novel Fourth Amendment argument in support of a motion to suppress in a criminal defense matter.

Chris earned his B.S. in Criminology, magna cum laude, from Arizona State University and his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. In law school, Chris spent two years working for the University of Chicago Law School’s Mandel Legal Aid Clinic in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Project. At graduation, Chris was awarded The Edwin F. Mandel Award for exceptional contributions to the law school’s clinical education program.
